POSITION:                          Service Technician

SUMMARY:                        This position is responsible for identifying, diagnosing, and repairing vehicle malfunctions and/or performing maintenance, as outlined on the Repair Order, in accordance with factory and dealer standards.  This position is at an expert level and would require Master A.S.E. certification.

 

DUTIES:

  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with accuracy and efficiency
  • Communicate with Service Consultant or customer to obtain further clarification, when necessary
  • Identify and diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs within a specified field
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
  • Examine the vehicle to determine if any additional work is needed or if work outlined is not needed
  • Obtain necessary approval before completing additional work or exceeding initial estimate
  • Clearly, legibly and accurately document all work performed
  • Road-test all vehicles safely and observe all public safety and traffic safety rules
  • Attend factory sponsored training classes and keep up-to-date with factory bulletins
  • Adhere to all safety policies as outlined by the dealership and utilize appropriate safety equipment, when necessary
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times
  • Ensure the customers’ vehicles are kept clean
  • Understand and follow Federal, State and local regulations pertaining to the use and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Perform general “housekeeping” duties such as cleaning stalls, floors and benches
  • Supervise apprentice, if assigned

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years’ technician level 2 or equivalent dealership experience preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • A/C and Emissions Licenses
  • S.E. certifications in all 7 specialty areas
  • Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • General mechanical skills and the ability to perform necessary work
  • Knowledge of automotive systems and the ability to explain systems and repairs to others
  • Ability to diagnose vehicle problems and interpret work orders
  • Knowledge of dealership products

 

STANDARDS OF PEFORMANCE:

  • Ensure that the customer’s vehicle is correctly serviced on the first visit
  • Perform work in an efficient manner to ensure delivery when promised
  • Clearly and accurately document all work performed and relevant information on the repair order
